What You Can Expect from a Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retrievers are, according to the American Kennel Club the most popular dogs for the last 25 years. However, it's important to know that although these very famously friendly dogs are preferred by most families, every individual family should look to their own lifestyle before choosing this or any other breed.

Labrador Retrievers are high energy dogs, and that might not work for everyone. For example, anyone who works long hours and the dog is left at home by himself, this may not be the
right choice as a family pet. Beyond that, they are extremely active and very outgoing. Therefore, these dogs require lots of exercise.

Moreover, they are very friendly, so they do not make good guard dogs, even though they are quite large in size and are built strong. Nutrition is also extremely important for the Labrador Retriever, from birth right through to his senior years. It should be noted that many Labrador Retrievers have obesity issues. Whatever you choose to feed your dog is your personal choice, but it is best to choose the right dog food for the Labrador retriever to increase longevity and keep him healthy.

Regarding maintenance, they do have very fast-growing and strong males that need regular trimming. It's also vital to have their ears checked on a regular basis to avoid infection from developing through wax buildup and debris.
